Top Books of 2022

As the year comes to a close, I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite books from 2022. May these bless you in the new year as they have me,

Liturgies for Hope, Audrey Allege & Elizabeth Moore

If you’re looking for a book to center your soul, provide beauty, and address every topic of life through prayer, this is the book for you. Adding this book in during my daily quiet times became such a refreshment for my soul.

Strange Glory, A Life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Charles Marsh

Bonhoeffer is one of the greatest theologians to ever live. This book details his upbringing in upper class society, as well as his devotion to serve and share his faith during the reign of the third reich in Nazi Germany. This book starts off somewhat slow but details the beauty of a faith truly devoted to God amidst the greatest turmoils of even death itself.

The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence

Brother Lawrence gently reminds the reader that God is in all. The letters shared between brother Lawrence and his counterparts read more like prayers to God sharing his beauty rather than a measly casual conversation. This book will be sure to refresh your soul.

A Curious Faith, Lore Ferguson Wilbert

For so long I believed that questions were bad and to have any means I wasn’t believing in the right way. Over the years I began to learn that God could indeed answer my questions, even the ones I had yet to think of. Lore Wilbert winsomely shares the questions of faith she has had over the years and how God met her in the middle moments guiding her not only to truth, but to His gracious character.

Praying Like Monks Living Like Fools, Tyler Staton

This was my favorite book of the year. The stories shared made me laugh, cry, smile, and everything in between. The book is centered around prayer and what it means to pray, yet it read more like a conversation between friends sharing about the way God had shaped and molded their lives. I cannot recommend this book enough.

If you end up reading any of these books let me know and I would love to chat all about it with you! Happy New Year, friends, and may God continue to walk with you for all of your days.
